Performance Measurement Systems

Performance measurement systems need to be devised in a way that does not impose an unreasonable workload on those responsible for implementing them. Similarly, the definition of targets has to be challenging but achievable. The CSES team has carried out a number of assignments to help develop performance measurement systems. Examples include:

  • Review of ESF Performance Indicators - CSES was assigned to review performance indicators used for ESF aspects of the UK’s 1994-99 Objective 2 programmes.
  • Review of Objective 2 Performance Indicators – CSES carried out a review of progress towards ERDF and ESF targets and where appropriate suggested changes to the definition of performance indicators and the targets themselves.
  • Mid-term evaluation of the European Disability Action Plan – CSES assessed the Action Plan’s performance to date, including a quantitative and qualitative review of activities supported
